The decisions you make
*This is a reuploaded post from my old blog website that I have altered*
Sometimes in life, you have to make a decision. Whether small or big, it could change the complete outcome of the day, week, month, year or even your life.
For example, when I made the decision to swap one of my commerce majors from Human Resources into a non-commerce major in Journalism and Non-Fiction Writing at university in 2019 was a big decision for me. This was when I started to think about how different the outcome of my future might be because of a decision like this.
I’ve always been passionate in writing and this was something I felt really good about doing, I was contemplating this for a long time and I’m glad I finally stuck with the decision. However, when thinking about it more deeply, I envisioned the people I will now cross paths with that I wouldn’t of ever known before, and those who I would’ve crossed passed with doing my other major which I may never meet or even see now. You see the decisions you make, little or big can change the outcome of everything. The thing is, when you have a shitty day just think of this — you may have made a decision in the past day, week, month, or year that would’ve positively contributed to someone’s life. I for one know that the last-minute decision I made to do a Commerce degree when I enrolled for Uni at the end of 2017 changed the result of who I met and crossed paths with. I’ve met some amazing people and met some people I wish I didn’t, but it’s been a positive experience and it just makes me wonder — what if? what if I took another path, what if I did something else. All this affects the grand scheme of things and it can make you feel really important and valued in this world when you realize that.
Attending that party that you were reluctant to go to because you didn’t know anyone could be where you find the love of your life, applying for that job that you didn’t think you were good enough for could be the thing that sets up your future, messaging your friend an apology after a fight even if it didn’t feel right to could fix everything. Decisions can change everything and anything. I think about the decisions I’ve made in the last few weeks, months, and years and how they’ve affected my life... if I didn’t make such small or big decisions I wouldn’t have learnt to be more independent, wouldn’t have made these new friends, wouldn’t have gotten over an ex and learnt to not be co-dependant and ‘needing’ a relationship. Your decisions impact this world and they can be so influential and positive, take the risk and don’t be afraid — life’s too short 🙂
I’ll be back with another month blog next month, I have also started a podcast which you can listen to here. 🙂 Thanks again for reading.
So. Tell me. What do you think? Which is better? To take action and perhaps make a fatal mistake — or to take no action and die slowly anyway?”
